I personally like to take all 3 guys but not the rat ogre - animal savagery can be dangerous and you only really need one frenzy piece in the minotaur. Overall I love them and you probably will too, just bare in mind they are pretty damn challenging and will take a while to properly take shape in a league setting. They definitely do suffer as a bashing team with no starting block. Because the team is such a blank slate and has access to mutations you can eventually shape them into almost anything.

The most fun way to play is with 3 big guys but that means in a league you generally only start with 2 rerolls (which will be expensive to buy in the future). The elf is great and you could argue that, since the thrower is of equal cost and in most ways worse, you can just take him as the ball carrier and leave the thrower (unless you keep him around for the leader later on). The orc is good to put on the line and the rat is really good when you can give him wrestle. The goblin is good for throw teammates but you have to be really careful because there is only one and it dies easy. When they are behaving they have a tonne of bashing power with all the strength 3 and big guys but otherwise it's a team full of linemen with no starting skills. Unlike ogres the big guys are all loners and can let you down real easy before you can give, say, the minotaur juggernaut. Rerolls are expensive, the thrower doesn't have sure hands (though safe pair of hands is nice) as well as him having animosity and passing 3+ slightly discourages you from passing to the best player for it (the elf). I really like them but they can be super rough if the dice don't go you're way.
